Aha, well… I’m not Kallan, but this explains better. Check with your People and try to find someone. There are lots of online sites by “tribe” and several books available.
If you’re Sioux some good books are: “Walking In the Sacred Manner” by Mark St. Pierre and Tilda Long Soldier, “The Lakota Way” by Joseph M. Marshall III, and “Gift of Power; the Life and Teachings of a Lakota Medicine Man” by Archie Fire Lame Deer and Richard Erdoes
If you haven’t read any of those. There are lots more too, if you’re not Sioux, just peek around online. Beware the websites that wishy washy shamanism… it’s sad but they’re out there, only to make a buck.
Edit/addition: I’m into Tibetan Buddhist and Germanic shamanism personally, but gleaned a LOT of wisdom from the Lakota/Dakota shamanic traditions.
