Threat to the Hill of Tara The Hill of Tara is under threat from the construction of a new motorway, the M3, which is currently being built and will disect the tranquil Tara-Skryne valley and pose a threat to many monuments which will doubtlessly be uncovered during its construction. Already a unique hengiform site has been revealed at Lismullen, and this has stopped work on the motorway. The Hill of Tara, known as Temair in gaeilge, was once the ancient seat of power in Ireland — 142 kings are said to have reigned there in prehistoric and historic times. In ancient Irish religion and mythology Temair was the sacred place of dwelling for the gods, and was the entrance to the otherworld. Saint Patrick is said to have come to Tara to confront the ancient religion of the pagans at its most powerful site. One interpretation of the name Tara says that it means a “place of great prospect” and indeed on a clear day it is claimed that features in half the counties of Ireland can be seen from atop Tara. In the distance to the northwest can be seen the brilliant white quartz front of Newgrange and further north lies the Hill of Slane, where according to legend St. Patrick lit his Pascal fire prior to his visit to Tara in 433 AD. Early in the 20th century a group of Israelites came to Tara with the conviction that the Arc of the Covenant was buried in on the famous hill. They dug the Mound of the Synods in search of the Arc but found only some Roman coins. Official excavation in …

Destructive motorway-project: what can be done now?
I love this song and this singer woman! I was in Tara. I think this place and like that (celtic languages, ogham alphabet,…), a heritage of humankind: need to protect! Blessed Easter for Irish Nation! Tibor Barna hungarian etnographer and political scientist, Norway
Temhair, this won’t end like this, I promise.
why does the Dublin government want to wreck Irelands historical sites like this?? History is why tourist go there! if the history is overcome by an American type “Asphalt Nightmare”, no one will visit . not me thats for sure! i want to see the land!! not concrete and parasitic shopping malls!
they built the road… its due to be opened in march… they destroyed most of the huge sites when the irish government changed some laws… they no longer need to? preserve sites, just photograph and record where they were… the fight is over… RIP Teamhair. So sad, the world has lost one of the most magical places on it..

Can u please tell me what is the name of this song and who sing this too?
I am a proud Irish American. Over the past five years I have been studying Irish history. This should have never been touched. The history of Tara is so important to the Irish people. Damn shame. The U.S. is no better. It’s all about the money.

I am not sure if this was used to make it easy for tourist’s to travel from England to Ireland, but they have made their own minds up that the N1,N2,N3,N4,N5,N6,N7,N8,N8,N9,or all the roads in Ireland as M’s
By the Way the British call the N3 the M3,so don’t be confused……….
They did,and it looks strange,if you are a Meath man,but there should be a law for all people involved in construction, that if they find any thing, that it should be controlled by Irish archaeologists,And i mean Irish Archaeologists.I remember one time bus Eireann use to pick up french Archaeologists from the N3,i found that strange.
My name is Tara 🙂
Nice video. Please what is the name of the song? I would really appreciate it if you could tell me. Nice video!
Not to my knowledge yet. This is really distressing me though.
did they ever put the road yet?
