where every person claims that his situation does not allow him to do anything. However, just as Elijah was a man feeble and fallible like us, all the great leaders were ordinary people. What they had different was an extraordinary commitment to help the people and build the community of God. When He finds a commitment of that level, the Spirit of God takes that man and gives him a new vision. Along with that is given a new enabling that is needed to put that vision into practice. Adversity only made his commitment deeper and trust in the Lord stronger. That was Nehemiah, and that can be you and I.
The task begins, most assuredly, with laying the foundation of doctrines. That was the unshakable ground on which our predecessors stood, subduing the whole world to the Word of God. They were called the “people of the Book” and we also need to be the same.
