The Tradition Behind Charm Bracelets
Although of late the wearing of Charm Bracelets has become another fashion statement, with their popularity heightened by the fashion conscious amongst us, the wearing of charms and amulets has actually been around for many hundreds of years.
Thought to have begun with the Ancient Egyptians, such jewellery was valued not only for its beauty, but also for the protection it provided. Amulets believed to be magical symbols were collected from a very early age and upon death, this jewellery would be buried with them to offer protection in the afterlife.
Unfortunately, charm bracelets today do not offer the promise of such protection, however, the tradition and meaning behind each individual charm still holds huge significance to the wearer. Each charm is representative of memories or major milestones along lifes journey and each charm bracelet is as unique and individual as its wearer.
