Yes, Mind over matter. If things make sense to oyu, you generally respond well to it. SO, if i believe praying will help, it should help.

No. The entire premise is based on belief, so to ask it as though there might be some scientific merit behind it is silly. People pray because they want to believe it helps. And if it doesn’t help, they claim that it wasn’t God’s will. But if they do get better, they give God the credit, not medicine. People that claim to be “faith healers” are either huge con artists, or crazy. Either way, they are dangerous.
