Question by misslabeled: Have you ever had anything inexplicable happen with crystals?
When answering a question as to what atheists are doing in R&S, I said that this is an appropriate place for anyone to answer question whether it’s pro or con to belief in god, or rose quartz and metaphysical attraction. After writing that, I was reminded of an incident with a chunk of clear quartz with several points on it that I bought in Arizona.
I used to have one of those lovely 1980s brass and glass entertainment centers. It was strong enough to hold my 10 gallon aquarium and television, so I was never really concerned about anything else I put on it. On one of the upper shelves I placed a few books with nice book ends and my chunk of quartz. For no reason on the green earth, after a couple of months the shelf just above it with just a few other knick-knacks shattered. Little cubes of tempered glass *everywhere.* I cleaned it up, rearranged things and ordered a new piece of glass (from a nice retail glass and mirror place just across the street). After a few months the exact same thing happened.
After I replaced the glass a second time, I put the crystal on the top shelf with nothing over it and never had another problem. Do you supposed the vibration coming out the points was just too concentrated to have something breakable over them? Has anyone had their crystals “misbehave” like that?
Now, now, play nice! Crystals do vibrate at different frequencies. You young whippersnappers never heard of a crystal set? They were among the first radios.

No, but I would avoid playing with crystals if it causes harm or wrong assumptions about faith and science.
I misbehaved on crystal once… or twice.
Well quartz crystals are used in every thing from watches to computers, And they do vibrate at a certain frequency. It is possible that something was causing the quarts to vibrate which could shatter the class. But that could be anything from a sound-wave to an EM wave.
Oh and I remember reading somewhere that a crystal balls(but I guess any crystal) should always be place on a wooden/plastic/bone/ivory(illegal today) stand. There could be a good reason for it other than making it look nice.
I can’t say that I have had anything to that degree happen, but I have felt the energy and ‘heat/cold’ coming from some of my crystals. I suppose it could very well be that it needed to be able to release it’s energy and having things over it, it was too closed off to be able to release in the way that it needed. At any rate, really cool story. )O(
