How do you know the difference between God’s answers and inspiration from some other source?
Question by Lancaid: How do you know the difference between God’s answers and inspiration from some other source?
This is not an attempt to discredit anyone’s beliefs. My question is sincere, and while I don’t believe any particular deity answers prayers, my belief, like all the others I hold, is certainly open to revision if I can be shown any oversight on my part. In other words, I’m looking for that if it’s there.
When a person goes to their deity with a question, and an answer becomes known to them by its appearance in their mind, from a dream, through another person, or by some other esoteric source, it may stand to reason that such an answer would be attributed to the deity who had been sought. After all, the question was only posed to that source, and an answer resulted. However, when the meditative act of prayer is coupled with a focused question, and where the questioner then becomes receptive to the spiritual, extrasensory indicators that enable them to obtain the answer, is it possible that the answer becomes known through non-Godly, psychological or metaphysical means? Perhaps the persons own introspective discovery? By the spirit of a dead soul? By the natural intuition of others who somehow supply the persons answer? By another unknown deity? Can a person use the prayer method to tap in to a universal collective consciousness of everyone’s mind, and essentially download it through the energy and receptiveness they’re employing? What makes a person assume that they know the source? If you have a method for deciphering the voice of deity over every other possibility in the universe, please share it.
I ask this because when I pursue divination by way of witchcraft, (*Sigh* A non-evil and Satanless practice.) I receive sensations and symbolic imagery (While now more specific and pronounced) vastly similar to those I received when I performed prayer divination as a Christian.
P.S. Thanks for reading my wall!
Natuarllydedicated. It’s unfortunate that you are motivated by fear. Especially of demons. I’m a little offended that you would use that tactic on me.
Bud853… I can not take your advise as reasonable because on one hand you say magic is not real, and then you say you believe in Jesus.
Macadem….. I am fairly practiced, and I do make effective protections. Thank you for your concern. I don’t try to contact deities, although I have had encounters with beings who project themselves as such. I respect it, but don’t practice. As of now I use purely personal and interpersonal energies.
Matte Stone.. You allow unknown beings to enter your body? Or do you mean that you seem to receive the communication through physical areas? If the first is true, I would very strongly suggest that you use safer methods.

The difference is that humans contradict themselves. God doesn’t

You are opening yourself up for all kinds of trouble, and demons.
Those who know God have experienced the fact of his presence; such God-knowing mortals hold in their personal experience the only positive proof of the existence of the living God which one human being can offer to another.
Divination, sorcery, and witchcraft are superstitions of ignorant minds, as also are the delusions of magic. The belief in magic numbers, omens of good luck, and harbingers of bad luck, is pure and unfounded superstition.
When Jesus heard this question, he was stirred within his spirit, so much so that he replied: “James, James, when did I teach you that you should all see alike? I have come into the world to proclaim spiritual liberty to the end that mortals may be empowered to live individual lives of originality and freedom before God. I do not desire that social harmony and fraternal peace shall be purchased by the sacrifice of free personality and spiritual originality. What I require of you, my apostles, is spirit unity–and that you can experience in the joy of your united dedication to the wholehearted doing of the will of my Father in heaven. You do not have to see alike or feel alike or even think alike in order spiritually to be alike. Spiritual unity is derived from the consciousness that each of you is indwelt, and increasingly dominated, by the spirit gift of the heavenly Father. Your apostolic harmony must grow out of the fact that the spirit hope of each of you is identical in origin, nature, and destiny. Page 1591-6 http://www.urantia.org/papers/paper141.html
Do you invoke a specific deity? Ask them for protection? Cast a circle? Call the corners? All of these things will keep you from having another deity butt in on your divination.
Usually the source can be identified by the location in which it enters. It seems like different areas of the body serve as antenna. I can tell also by the intensity of that which has made itself present. But almost certainly practice practice practice, the sure way to tell is by writing down what you have received and you can tell who the message is from just by the vocabulary and structuring of the message.
Well, I know that there is a God and that His Son is Jesus Christ.
I know it I don’t just believe it. It’s too personal to share the specifics here though.
Yet I do not know all the ways that He inspires and communicates. I don’t know how it is connected with the universe etc.
I like to hear what others have experienced and consider ideas.
I do believe that people are able, through different means, to connect with “the universe” or what ever it is called in very moving and personal ways.
I have had dreams, and inspirations both mild and strong. I have had many questions answered which consisted of thoughts accompanied by the Spirit of God which burned in my whole body and soul. It doesn’t happen often, but it has happened.
I knew who not to marry and who to marry because of this communication.
I found a horse lost in thousands of acres of open BLM woods. I first felt I should look in a place for him, but it didn’t make sense and so I ignored it. It kept getting stronger and stronger until at dusk I finally decided that I might as well just follow the Spirit if He could lead me and I found it in a place that was so inconceivable to me on my own. I was being taught a lesson about thinking for myself and trusting in my own logic.
Recently I had a dream that I had lost my left diamond earring. I woke up terrified and sure enough the left one was gone. I was led to that one earring and found it in the woods out on a rocky leafy trail a ways from my home…All because I first had a dream.
A few weeks ago I found our missing cat almost dead and almost too late, thanks to promptings. I found him 3 minutes after praying about him. I had looked for hours on my own before praying. I could go on and on.
I think that once you learn to become in tune with whatever it is out there, you need to go ahead and ask the most important questions of it.
Is there a God? Who is He? Where does He want me?
I know who He is, but everyone needs to hear it from Him, not me.
Only God can heal cancer.
And yes I was healed from cancer between Sept and Nov of 2007.
That is a wonderful question. And a very wise one.
Satan has the power to do “wonders as well” He seeks vessels who also are willing to open themselves up to this. DO NOT BE FOOLED. You cannot serve two masters. The devil would rather be hid to the world than to be exposed. (Hence, there is no evil in witchcraft theory.) Witchcraft is an abomination and is not of God.1 John 4:1
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
The reason why it seemed the same to you as far as the witchcraft & Christianity imagery, is because it was the devil all along, in sheep’s clothing. You cannot “perform” anything in Christianity. Because it’s not about rituals, it’s about Jesus. God speaks in His own time and you cannot force or “summon” or “conjure” His holy Words. My friend, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all its righteousness. Everything else will come in it’s own time. The power of God is awesome & so mighty words can’t describe and we couldn’t ever imagine. In addition, your heart must be right to receive the spiritual things and gifts of God. You and I were bought with a price, His precious Son, Jesus. Only the devil gives these “gifts” for nothing. His plan is to keep you distracted with power and being glorified in your own mind, while your soul perishes. He wants you to run out of time before you can learn the TRUTH about Jesus. He wants to kill us all really-just like that. However, God’s grace protects us all, even non-believers. So, he keeps those at bay with distractions and foolishness(which eventually the lies of deceit you begin to believe and defend!) The devil is a liar; plain & simple. Wisdom cries in the streets.
