Question by Q.BULiN: How do you make ice crystals for extra credit in science?
Not the kind that like, “grows” on your ice cream and stuff… The manmade ice crystals you can make. I really need a “recipe” for school. Thank you!
It has to take at least a week to grow.

Here’s a link on how to grow ice crystals. It has a quick procedure using dry ice.

If you need to do it slowly, you might try this:
Use a container that has a tight snap-on lid, like an ice cream or cottage cheese container, and put a bit of damp sponge in the bottom plus something spindly for the crystals to grow on (i.e. straightened paper clips sticking up from a lump of clay, or something of that sort). Close the container, and put it in your freezer. The next day, either add another bit of wet sponge, or take the first one out and re-wet it. Do this quickly to keep the inside of the container cold. Repeat for a few days. I think this will grow crystals on the sponge bits or on the spindly apparatus. I think it will be very much like the crystals that grow in a partially eaten container of ice cream, but I can’t guarantee it will work.

One difficulty you might face if you choose to do it over the course of a week is how to get the crystals to school to show your teacher.

Good luck.
