The Everything Tarot Book by M.J. Abadie is really good. Ultimately, you will learn tarot from spending time with your cards, but this book is easy to read,gives good information, and provides a good fundamental introduction to the art.

I was just at Barnes and Noble looking at Tarot book info. From the choices they had on hand the Tarot for Dummies looked very informative, a place to begin.
The best one I read is “The Tarot Directory” by Annie Lionnett. I’ve read or own over 9 books on Tarot. This one shows different decks on each page. I like seeing how all the decks look.
Many decks can be purchased as a set with a book written just for that deck,(not the little paper one that comes with)
