Hi 🙂 I’m looking for information on Korean shamanism in modern society, how it evolved, what are the differences between shamanism at its beginning and nowadays.

Hope that helps in some way. As for the status of Shamanism in the modern day, I know a lot of South Koreans are now Catholic, not to mention those who follow Buddhism and the Tao, so I can only guess that Shamanism is declining somewhat. At the same time, if the Koreans are anything like the Japanese, it would not be unusual to see them taking part in rituals of different faiths at different stages of their lives, almost to suit the occasion, so perhaps Shamanistic practice still persists in this manner?
