[19] So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, (normally a person ploughs with just one but he was ploughing with twelve yoke of oxen) and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.(he did not say anything to him, he just cast his mantle upon him) [20] And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?( I did not say anything to you now) [21] And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people,( and gave them bye-bye party) and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him”.
The call was unexpected but he man understood it. He did not question it. They did not force it upon him. It was unconditionally accepted. The Bible says that many are called but few chosen. God has called you and that is the reason you are a Christian. Elisha was already a warrior. These days, some people just come and they say, “I am not doing my work again.
