Why is it that someone who “sounds” like someone else must be an inferior version? All music, this whole society and world of everything for that matter, grows upon everything that has come before it. Using your logic, virtually ALL music today is inferior to music which has come before it and so clearly paved the way, for without it none of the music which exists today would not exist.
