Question by Under The Stairs: Parents, would this come as a shock to you?
My parents don’t know what kind of music I listen to. I dress very preppy and I guess I conform just so my parents don’t worry about me like they do with my brother.
I just want to be accepted but I want them to know what kind of music I listen to and stuff. They think I listen to Disney artists and things like that but these are the CDs I want for Christmas:
Eluveitie – Spirit (pagan death metal)
Opeth – My Arms, Your Hearse (progressive death metal)
The Misfits – Earth A.D. (horror punk)
Emperor – In The Nightside Eclipse (satanic black metal)
So would it? I’m 14 and I respect my parents a lot and hardly ever say anything bad to them.
Also, my question is would you be worried? I already know it would shock them.
Also, I’m really not into the “emo” fashion. I’m not becoming one of those people who whine about how much life sucks and pretend I’m going to kill myself for attention.

No, just listen to the music and your parents will have to accept it. its your life and you only have 1 chance to live it, live it how you want to live it, dont take influence to what they say about it.
There is nothing wrong with that. My parents never cared, some of my friends parents really would.
Im the most straight laced almost nerdy person and I love soul music and the sex pistols. Dress and music do not go hand in hand.
Ask your parents for money so you can buy what you want.
And why are you listening to satanic music? do you even know anything about it?
