History shows how things go right or wrong, and how people survive or die. It’s being true and realistic to one’s own individual identity, to offer one’s community/environment a safer and better place for all, that allows one to survive. By creating enemies out of whosover they are, makes an environment a more dangeous place to survive – not only for oneself, but for all in general. All it takes is make an angry and influential person an outcast, and that lowers the expectation of safety for all. Why? Because, the trait of Satan – revenge – is in all human behaviors in varied degrees. And obsession, resistence to temptations and obesity are already seen to be very difficult behaviors to erase in America.

It is harmful but not necessary. It is sad but when someone passes on their history and life usually goes with them. The reason most are interested is ego and inheritance.
When people migrate they assimilate into the culture where they end up. It’s just easier to live and survive that way because you get along better. If you really want to get philosophical and are christian, we have all been cut off from our roots in the Garden of Eden. I am not Christian by the way. I think your real question is: Can people survive not KNOWING their history? The answer is: How can something you don’t know affect how you behave today? A living person survives with what they have and know. I cannot discern any reason why being “cut off” from your roots would be harmful except culturally. Cultures may be lost if all migrate and don’t retain their original culture. Our planet is always worse off when we lose a culture or species.
