virgin birth, rising from the dead, the trinity, the “miracles”, the golden rule, heaven and hell, and even the teachings of “jesus the christ” are all borrowed from pagan history. do you people never open books, or what?

What religion has completely original ideas? The very word comes from the latin roots (re-) back and (ligio-) linking. Literally, linking back. Just like science, philosophy, or any discipline, religion builds on the ideas that came before. Yes, Chrisiaintiy inherited a wealth of symbols and ideas, but it did add the notion that God’s forgiveness and grace was open to all and not just select nations. That was original.

A lot of those ideas which you claim are pagan are in fact Zoroastrian. Zorastrianism is the first monotheism.
It had a God which ruled the celestial buracracy (heaven).
It had a god which ruled their version of hell. (yes he was a god, and yes it was monotheism)
It had a holy spirit.

If you are clueless enough to think that these “pagan books” that you refer to are older than the Bible and have more credibility than the Bible….you need help.
The Bible has been proven to be the same as it was written 1000’s of years ago. The Dead Sea Scrolls (found somewhere in the 1900’s) prove that it HASN’T CHANGED.
These books that you refer to seem to be the copycats. Not the Bible.
No dear! Because I see miracles every day in my line of work. I see people being told that they have cancer and prepare to die because they only have months to live and a year later, X-rays show no signs of cancer.
I see miracles in peoples’ lives that totally transform them into what they thought they could never be, or have. I am that kind of miracle myself ! When I was very young, I made the horid mistake of venturing the streets of New Orleans until I found myself a lowlife and only knowing the gutters and about ready to end it all, when an elderly Christian couple took me away from it all and took me into the confidence of their home and family and taught me about the God that I had no faith in. One day the elderly woman handed me their family Bible and sent me on my way! I studied it thouroughly until I found the God within the binds of that great and miraculous book and later found, great success, peace beyond measure, a family to share it all with, and love for everyone.
Does it bother you that there are no original ideas to your life? All that has been done and is being done here on earth today is only being repeated from early History. I’m referring to the ideas and possibilities that man has in within his head and body. If you count the tangible things like computers, cell phones and Wii and the like, you limit yourselves even more. This is another reason why so many people or the young are so bored in life today. They are not being creative enough to find pleasures or fun activities on their own, like early man did as in camping, hunting, fishing or all recreations.
Jesus rose from the dead and showed himself to over 500 witnesses. I guess that was a neat trick that has never been duplicated.
Religious historical reconstruction is like an ink blot test; you see similarities between various religions if you want to.
Of course, if there was deliberate copying, it makes you wonder who was actually copying from whom.

You don’t understand why Christianity is different from every other religion in the world, do you? To make the long story short, Christianity is the only religion that teaches that man is incapable of earning his way to heaven. Man can’t do anything that is good enough, he can’t evolve his way, he can’t martyr his way, nor can he buy his way into paradise.
I’m a Pagan, and I disagree with you. Oh yeah, the virgin birth and all that, yeah.
But Jesus did two things that no religion had ever done before.
He established that your relationship with God was up to you in His re-wording of the ten commandments and the thousands of laws and the golden rule into something that anyone can attempt and possibly achieve, with tremendously wonderful results for the world when they do.
He demonstrated the seven stages of how to become a vessel upon the Earth for the Omnipotent, Eternal ONE, and He provided that anyone could take the first step (be born of God) and share His divine nature through an act of will.
Though there may have been tens or hundreds of ‘virgin birth Gods’ in cultures before Him, not a single other one has made this offer.
Now, where Christians have gone with that is nothing short of deplorable, but put the guilt where it belongs, dude!!!
