Question by Greco: how did sex become sacred? …culturally speaking?
if you even brush against specific areas of someone’s body, you have committed “sexual assault”
why are sexual crimes treated differently than other crimes?
did you ever notice that the series Law and Order treats sex as the most depraved thing ever imagined? (especially Law and Order – S.V.U.)
..how do we manage to stand in a crowded bus …packed in like sardines…without being charged with assault?
is sex treated with a ridiculous amount of political correctness?
and NO i dont brush against people for a thrill …its merely a question

Motherhood is a biological reality, but fatherhood is a result of cultural controls.

Freud was right – everything is about sex and reproduction. The church knows this – power is gained by having control over sexual behaviour (through marriage and taboos)
I touched some guy’s butt in a commercial.
Sex between a couple can be considered sacred because many times in a relationship it is the only one thing that the two truly have together that only they share. Sex itself isn’t treated with a ridiculous amount of political correctness, but sexually based crimes definitely are on the top of my list as the most depraved things ever imagined. Maybe you should lay off the legal shows for a while and go to some hard core porn, bet you’ll feel better.
great question.
Personally, I think it’s because of religion, they tried to give everyone something “sacred” of their own. But thats just my guess. There isn’t a right or wrong answer here, though.
Sex has always been sacred. I don’t think brushing against someone by accident is sexual assault. But intending to would be.
It always was right from the very beginning between Husband and wife the way God intended it to be.
Sex is in nature, it didn’t become “sacred” until religion started dictating to people HOW they should do it, what POSITION they should do it, with WHOM they should do it… and began imposing a bunch of supposedly morally correct views.
Family, marriage, and sex form a trinity which not only is, but must be held sacred if a viable human society is to exist. The logical disconnect you feel is the result of fragmenting this single entity, and treating is as if it were no more than the sum of its parts. Our culture bombards us with images and messages that reduce women to mere sex objects and then condemns treating them as such. It is a symptom of a much more serious underlying condition.

I think… That someone in a position of power got laid, and decided that, since it was so great, only the privileged should do it. To make it even harder for other people to experience the splendor that is the orgasm, he decided it would be fun to throw marriage into the mix…
Sex isn’t nearly as revered in other cultures… I’m in America (and I presume you are as well), and it’s pretty absurd. I mean, honestly… Every other animal in the world f*cks shamelessly, why all this egocentric, narcissistic prattling about how sacred it is? If anything was truly “sacred” someone’s god would’ve engraved it into every being’s head that it is only to be done indoors, inside of a marriage. Of course, this would result in mass extinction and a severe epidemic of depression/suicide…
