Question by Miss Jane: Is there any history of pagans practicing in Michigan (more specifically, southeast Michigan?)?
I am looking for any information about pagan religious practices in Michigan, but more precisely from the Detroit area. I know that the French settled here in the 1700’s, and they were predominantly Catholic, but any information about the practice of older religions in the area from a historical standpoint would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Most Native American tribes in the Americas were Pagan before the occupation of the Europeans. There has probably been a history of the Sioux or Chippewa tribes practicing Paganism in the northern US. Try googling it or try to find a book about Native American religions. You’re bound to find something on the subject.
you’d be looking more to the Indians prior to Christians. the Potowatami were downriver and up through Mackinac the Iroquois….they were deeply spiritual however not Christians.
I spent 47 years in the Detroit area and I can tell you there are plenty
of pagans living there now. There are witches and covens;
One semi=famous witch sat behind the home plate at a Tiger
baseball game and said she was going to hex the pitcher of the
opposing team; It actually seemed to work as the pitcher had
a miserable game and the Tigers won;
Probably 5% of the people living in Detroit would describe themselves
as hedonistic or pagan.
Nowadays witches aren’t persecuted, they’re celebrated by
Harry Potter et al.
