There are many Shamanism in the New Age movement today. So, there are Shamen throughout America and Western Europe. However, every tribal culture has something similar. These people cross into the spirit world for their tribe. Many of the remnants of Shamanistic techniques can be found in the rituals of modern religions. (imbibing alchohol, Eucharist… Meditation, Prayer… Chanting, Litanies)
Well, first, shamanism isn’t really a religion so much as a practice. A shaman is a person (male or female) who acts as an intermediary between this world and the spirit world. The term “shaman” comes from the language of the Evenk in Siberia; the plural is also “shaman” (like “deer/deer”); a female shaman may be called a shamanka.
Anthropologists appropriated the term “shaman” to refer to anyone, not just in Siberia, who takes on roles similar to that of the Siberian shaman–working with spirits, removing evil spirits from the body, helping to find game, etc. Cultures outside of Siberia, including Native Americans, don’t call their magical/holy people “shamans”; instead, they have their own terms for them.

ETA; Also wanted to add, “shamen” and “shawoman/shawomen” are not words. The -man in shaman has NOTHING to do with the English word man.
