Question by iluvthePhillies: What must i do if i want to take ayahuasca with a shaman in the Brazilian rainforest?
I wanted to do this with peyote, but i cant cuz i found out that ONLY native americans in the Native American Church can take peyote legally and ppl cant just “join” the Native American Church and take peyote. However, I recently saw on a History Channel show about ‘rites of passage’ that people frequently go to the Brazilian city of Iquitos in the western Amazon rainforest just to participate in an ayahuasca ritual. The Brazilian government has legalized the use of ayahuasca in a religious setting, and if I wanted to go to Brazil to take it, would I have to sign official government papers saying that I will be taking ayahuasca, or can anyone just go to the rainforest, meet an ayahuasca shaman, and take ayahuasca whenever they want?

i saw that program too….shit looks awesome, but yea you can book a trip to south america that has this feature built in. Once I get the money I’m doing this too.
