  • theshadowwolff says:

Hades is no hell its the middle ground where one is judged just like when Christians walk up to the gates of heaven to be judged. From Hades you can be sent to Elysium(heaven), tar torus(purgatory), or stay in the throne room of Hades and have your punishment exacted there. dont listen to tv do some research on your own

  • bobskinswoman2229 says:

I am going to be completly honest, my beliefs do not include God nor does it include The Devil or Hell. There are different variations of ‘Greek Paganism’. I don’t believe that I will go to Hades or Hell. The show, obviously, did not give the correct information. Because I am a strong believer in ‘Greek Paganism’, and I still do not believe that I will go anywhere as such. I believe in being reincarnation, if this gives you a different outlook. I hope I helped!

  • rsoxfan1123 says:

There were a variety of beliefs. The Mystery teachings (see Orphic Mysteries)indicated a belief in reincarnation as did Plato, Pythagoras and most Greek philosophers. I don’t believe I am going to Hades, I believe that God has many faces and each religion is an example mankind trying to understand our Divine source.

  • McKeenkle says:

    dude shut the fuck up

  • Deukal0 says:

Theres more than just the bad side. Theres a bad side, a neutral side and a good side to the afterlife to my belief

  • MysticTV777 says:

I am a greek Dodecatheist, what you would call
greek “Pagan”, but i reject the term “pagan” as
a prejorative term that was use to attempt to
destroy our culture and religion, but anyway….
We do not believe in Hades as a afterlife place.
    Native Greek Religion/Dodecatheon is about
life, how to live and about to become Citizens based on Arete, here in life. The concept of
afterlife is not that important. But if some
Dodecatheists want to know more about it,
they can read pythagoras, plato anson..

  • PrinceLordChris says:

Did I ever respond to this? Anyway, the realm of the underworld that would most be associated with Hell would be Tartarus, not Hades. Hades is a realm of the dead, and there are good places there and not so good places, I don’t care what the history channel tells you. Hades is not Hell. Plato also wrote about a Greek who died and returned to tell about reincarnation and heaven, but he never talked about any Hell. So there is not just one afterlife belief in Greek Paganism.

  • sopotinos says:

You are in the kindengarden level of the ethnic greek religion. in about 20 years i would like you to make on other video, and i will mark for you then. For now study harder and stay clear of the church if you are looking for enlightment.

  • TheVikingsRevenge says:

What are you talking about hades has three parts and the clash of the gods episode confirms this.

  • Pilaeus says:

HADES my uneducated friend is NOT a place ,HE was the brother of ZEUS AND THE SON OF CRONOS, HE WAS THE GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD , UNDERWORLD,, WHO TALKED ABOUT HELL?
Another name for HADES is POLYDEGMON “receiver of many guests”
GREEK PAGANIST THINKING GAVE YOU THE FREEDOM OF SPEACH AND DEMOCRACY NOT CHRIASTIANITY OR WHATEVER ELSE

  • adeedem says:

The Greek after death perspective is the Orfic and Pythagorean circle. The soul make this circle and live again and again until a level. I am a Greek pagan and I honour the Gods. In the same way you could ask Christians: Why do you believe in Jesus as you know you re going to paradise or hell ? ? ?

  • sleepywolff says:

You are falling into an Abrahamic-faith mindset when you ask that. Someone shouldn’t choose a religion based on it’s afterlife as the main reason.

  • hellinicemperor88 says:

    long live hellenic paganism
    fuck judeochristianity!!

  • Technate1 says:

It doesn’t describe Hades as a “bad place”, for most it’s depicted as more of a twilight existence.

  • Technate1 says:

Greek pagans don’t believe they’re going to the Christian hell, and hades isn’t hell it’s the underworld. You should brush up on your mythology, Elysium is like heaven and it’s in Hades, and Tartarus is like hell and it’s also in Hades or at least connected by gates. Clash of the gods probably didn’t go into this because it was focusing more on the gods than the places.

I think most greeks believed they they would forget their past life and be reborn or something, there are legends about it.

  • Iberianlobo says:

The modern conception of Hell, as based on Christian mythology, is only a shadow of the Greek concept of Hades. It is not as complex in nature and is only composed of one area and exists for only one function, to punish the souls of the ‘wicked’. Hades of the Homeric period, on the other hand, which is what most people think about when they hear the word Hades, was a complex “kingdom” with differing areas that served different functions.
So, to compare Hell with Hades is simply ignorant.

  • Iberianlobo says:

As a Hellenic polytheist, I can also say that not all in the community ‘believe’ in the concept of Hades as a literal place. It is a state in which the PSYCHE (Soul) of an individual remains, until the next life.

The mythology of Hades describes a location where the soul of the dead traveled and remained. It is only “bad” in the sense that it is not a place for the living. Hades was actually composed of “sub-locations”, such as Tartarus and Elysium, among others. (cont’d)

  • Iberianlobo says:

As one who has worked on the History Channel on two different shows, I can tell you that the History Channel is NOT completely accurate in its telling of history. It tells stories based on historical information. Accuracy is not their priority.

  • thuirthiawindsong says:

And some people were reincarnated (they had to drink from the Lethe River first in order to forget their previous life). Tartarus is the most comparable to the Christian Hell, and it was reserved for the worst of the Titans that the Olympians overthrew before humans even existed, and most especially, Kronos.

  • thuirthiawindsong says:

Hades is not the same as the Christian Hell. Most people were said to go to the Fields of Asphodel (which is in Hades), but that wasn’t Hell in the Christian sense. It was a place where people reflected on their lives for eternity. It was a dismal existence, but not eternal torment. People who pissed off the gods ended up with eternal punishments like Tantalus and Sisyphus, but they really went out of their way to piss them off. Heroes went to the Elysian Fields (which were a paradise in Hades)

  • insightliviu says:

I believe in all gods including de greek.
Hades is not hell and not necesarely a bad place, its a place of silence and reflection on the past life before moving on.
Hades has a notorious reputation but he is a good god.

  • gandhara496 says:

Hades was the place of the afterlife, for the souls of the dead and the place where underworld gods, creatures, and spirits dwell. It’s not a Hell. There were different places within Hades depending on where your were meant to go, your fate and destiny. Tartarus was the place in Hades was for punishment. Elysian Fields was a place IN HADES for the blessed. But there were many places within Hades a soul might venture to…it might have been gloomy and dark but not all bad and evil.

  • AxiomofDiscord says:

update when they called the Underworld as the House or Dominion of Hades later they dropped the House or Dominion of part and just called the place Hades … its not entirely a Greek name for the place. Its a holding place for the dead by the way more like Sheol which is what it means in the NT text when they say Hades. So maybe even all Christians go to Hades as well see you there 🙂
