its funny how people say your going to Hades, the underworld, as a bad thing… you aren’t necessarily going into Tartarus duh! like your saying there are other places. they say you go to heaven which would be the equivalent of a mix between the fields of asphodel (btw) and the Elysium fields which you can chose to be born again up to three times if you make it there all three times then you can go to the isle of the Blessed.

Our value on large penises is almost entirely a modern concept because we incorrectly associate it with sexual prowess. We assume that the larger a penis is, the more pleasure a woman finds with it and the more pleasure a woman finds with it, the better at sex you are. Female pleasure was not strictly important to the Greeks and thus they didnt have a size obsession.
@Socinus – well it could be as you say. On the other hand, I think it has to do with their sense of proportion. In other words, a great big one would have been considered in poor taste. Vulgar, unattractive.

@MrRedFredSaid They are portrayed that way because it’s only in the modern times that we have a fixation with penis size and equating to virility. Back then, it was your ability to father children, not the size, that mattered because women’s pleasure during sex was irrelevant. We consider large penises a plus today because we think women enjoy sex with a bigger man more than a smaller man (not actually true). That’s because we put value on women’s pleasure as a measure of male sexual prowess.

There are myths for the common people such as Hades, Tartaros and all this stuff. But there is also the knowledge of Pythagoras and Mysteries about the after-death circle of the soul. The Golden verses of Pythagoras and the Orfic ”after death instructions” tell us what is after this world we live.
It more chose me than chose it. I felt somewhat drawn to the idea of Paganism and I felt much more comfortable with Greek ideas than with most other belief sets

That isnt too clear. Much of the Greek religion was not written down but passed around through priests. People knew the “rules” and the priests filled in the rest. There was no real need to write anything down so we’ve lost a great deal concerning their original beliefs. Rebirth seems to have been embraced by some Greeks, rejected by others. It’s also important to remember that the Elyusian mystery cults make up a lot of Greek religion and they did not readily share their beliefs with outsiders
Was rebirth a part of the Greek religion originally?
I’d definitely like to go to Elysium, but I’ll be happy to make it to any place of rest before being reborn.
