Question by whatapwrtrip: Sex portrayed in movies?
i dunno about you, but it pissed me off that in every romantic comedy or romance ….when the two ppl fall in love and have sex, you NEVER see them using protection!!! at all! no condoms, no mention of anything, just boop! penis goes in and out!
UGH. look, young girls are influenced by alot of things.
its not like i didnt have sex ed in school but, when you see movies that are accepted by family members, friends, etc over and over again, you become conditioned to thinking a certain way.
im not pregnant, but i had unprotected sex. what if i have an std?
i guess i just feel angry at society for allowing this to happen.
its like everyones sex like its some magical thing when its not.

Most teenagers and youngsters of average intelligence understand that not everything you see on the silver screen is completely realistic or something to be imitated. I agree young people are impressionable, but once you get to a certain age you should be able to think for yourself and make good/bad decisions on your own. I think it’s interesting how tv/movie viewers will try to blame their unfavorable behavior/actions on the media, but when something good is portrayed you seldom seem youngsters mirroring that.
Most young people disregard public service announcements promoted by popular celebrities and television network. I think it’s funny how easy it is to sway some young people to do something irresponsible than it is to do something responsible. I think young people need to own up to their own decisions and quit trying to blame people for their choices.
I feel I should add that I am also a young person, so you don’t think I’m so middle aged mother lecturing today’s youth. I just want to stress that some young people have sense and actually use their common sense/deductive reasoning.

I totally agree. It makes me mad that in movies (and books) it is all 2 people meet and next thing you know they have sex and never ever use anything. And neither is looked upon as a slut or that the girl was easy and of course they have a long relationship. Yet, in real life if you are female and sleep with a guy right away you are deemed a slut and the guy will not have anything more to do with you.
I know of way too many young people who never use any type of protection and think they are never going to catch anything. The statistics are out there so many people have stds it isn’t funny. And I know plenty whom do so I know these statistics are real.
Go get checked out and just be careful the next time.
