As far as i know Sufi does not mean wisdom in Arabic. The term Sufi is used to describe a Muslim escoteric or ascetic. Sufi is derived from the word Suf or Soof, which in arabic means wool. Early Sufi’s wore wool cloaks so i guess that is how they were identified and named.
