This is the first in a series of short videos on shamanism. This particular video discusses where shamanism is considered to have originated, how the shaman have been viewed throughout history and where the practice of shamanism is at today. Part II will discuss more specific practices of the shaman. Thank you! Namaste. Mitaku Oyasin (We are All Related) ~Alison~

Sunday June 1st, 2008 Host: George Noory Futurist John Jay Harper shared his investigation into native shamanism as it correlates with the near-death experience (NDE), earth changes, and a global shift in consciousness. The shamanic tradition dates back thousands of years. Shamans, often engaged in healing work, travel to other realms and then translate back symbols of what they’ve seen, he explained. The shamanic experience shares similarities to NDEs, with an “initiate” traveling to the other side. Near death experiencer, George Ritchie, described realms of a higher vibrational rate that co-exist just above our world, and contain laboratories and schools. One of the common themes Harper uncovered in his NDE research was of earth transformations to come. During a 20-year period (begun in 1992) a major solar event will trigger a pole shift and the melting of the ice caps, he detailed. Harper, through his own visions, sees regional disruptions due to earthquakes on both the East and West coasts, as well as the Midwest. An event on the West Coast could be centered around a fault line near Eureka, CA, he added. Harper also expressed concern over people living on the coastlines, and warned of tsunami dangers.

I have many vivid dreams & last night, I had a dream that I was flying with the Snowy White Owl. We landed on a small patch of ice where he turned into a seal, swimming thru a watery tunnel into another realm. I asked “where are you going?” & woke up. There’s more to the dream but, my friend suggested buying “The Way of The Shaman”. Why I googled Shaman video(s) just now, came to yours first. Thank you very much for sharing. Peace & Blessings, Sonya Rose

i like the hopi prohpecies alot less metaphoric than the ancients. i love the mis information that hollywood is so eagerly producing of 2012 its a perfect scare factor but rarely people read the actually contents/context of the prophecy just take peoples words for it (which are often wrong) 2012 is not the end of the world and the mayans never said that

One other point: from my research (not exhaustive by any stretch), most Hopi themselves seem to regard Hale-Bopp as the Blue Kachina.

    Ack–I meant “encouraging.” Sorry…

Thanks for posting! I’ll be listening to the entire series.

Re sponsoring children, please consider Futures for Children, $41/month, but just as important, you become a mentor to a First Nation (Native American) child, encouring him or her to set and reach educational and personal goals. How ’bout helping our own for a change? If you had a $100 for groceries this week, whose kids would you feed? Empowerment spirals from the inside out, if you know what I mean….
