Shaman means “To know”
1) You become a shaman when RUDRA initiates you through trance. You then wear rudraksha, 3 blue fruits and red leaf as a symbol of being a shaman.
2)Your third eye opens, meaning you become aware of whats behind the doors or perception. Able to look into other dimensions and pull out information out.
3)Become ill as body purges itself to become shaman.

You are so right, im walking down the same path! I would say that you would have to be a sensitive tipe, who is a natural in tapping into energy resounces.
