Question by loveyourlongshadows..: Spiritual significance of shifting eye colors?
I’m not talking about the change as one get’s older. I’m talking about the seemingly random shift of dominant eye color as well as obvious iridescence. I know the iris is naturally iridescent, but it’s not always noticeable. Mine change all the time. The shift goes from brown, to green, to hazel, sometimes grayish bluish green, and sometimes there’s reds and yellows mixed in there along with whatever color decides to be dominant at the time. Other times my eye color is very non-human (feline, canine, etc). My usual, official color is brown. Anyone know of any type of spiritual significance to it? And if you’re not all that spiritual or interested in metaphysics, do you know of a biological explanation? I’m interested. Really. And it’s really cool to watch.

I don’t know, but mine change color quite a bit with mood. I always assumed it was the change in how you hold your eyelids differently during different moods and similar things affecting how the light hits your iris.
Normally mine are hazel, but they shift from green to almost yellow.
Mine shift too. I seriously doubt that it is spiritual.

The pigmentation in your eyes can change with time, but I don’t know what the mechanism for that is. Also, blue eyes are the result of diffraction in eyes with limited pigmentation. Your eyes are technically not blue; they just appear that way because of the way light scatters as it enters the eye and reflects back out of it.
no significance. When your pupils get bigger the outermost color will show more , when your pupils are smaller the other colors appear.
Hazel eyes by definition change color according to what you are wearing. It has to do with what colors your eyes are reflecting.
my eyes shift in color allot to, I think it is more a sign of breeding than anything else, allot of people I have met who are part white and part something else get this, I am total white myself but my dad has brown eyes and my mom has hazel eyes, when different characteristics of eye color intermarry, sometimes you get that.
well im not into the whole spiritual aspect of this but i can tell you theres definitly something biological with it my eyes do the same thing theyre usually gray but can change from green to bright blue to brown it not me noticing it usually either its other people too
Mine change all the time too. I have hazel eyes but near my pupil it’s a mix of red/yellow/ and green but around the outside of my eye theres a ring of dark blue and then the black line.
wow right on! that’s what I’ve noticed about mine…I think color shift is pretty for green/hazel eyes. i have light green eyes when I’m in the happiest mood but the usual colour of my eyes is brown. sometimes I do see weird colors in them…does anyone know why is that?
