I can recommend the companion book for the Gilded Tarot. Why? Because that card deck is traditional with great imagery. The beautiful imagery on the cards helps you remember the story line and the interpretations, which keeps you from having to reference the guide book so often. Plus, they are easy to find, large enough to work with, and beautiful as art.

Your deck should also come with a little white book (LWB).
I recommend that you start with the Rider-Waite deck.
