@ravynlefay…NIICE. Unfortunately, even given Smith’s tremendous impact on the Tarot, she died in poverty and obscurity as artists and mystics often do.

Ahh yes Oudler, very good! Yes I know of the Sola Busca Deck and also the Smith inspiration theory, as the pack turned up at the British National Museum about the same time that she was doing the Rider deck. I only had 10 minutes to do the video. The reason I did not include that information is because the Sola Busca Illustrations are more of decorative merit rather than anything metaphysical or symbolic. I thought someone might mention the pack just the same and you have.
One correction that may be made is that the Rider Tarot is not exactly the first to feature illustrated pip cards. An older Italian deck The Sola Busca actually had this feature. It is said that Pamela Coleman Smith was inspired to do illustrated pips from seeing this older deck in the British Museum
