Question by Vicky: Tarot readings for others?
I know already how to do tarot readings for others, while they are not there with me.. But i need help understand how to do tarot readings for people that are there. As in doing readings for them. I want to know , if i am the one choosing the cards for them, and putting them in position. Do they just ask a question, and i focus on them, and spread the cards they chose myself?

but then i’ve only done reads for ppl that are with me
you may find other ppl handling your cards has a negative affect on your reads if so go back to how you do it,

No hard and fast rules really. You can shuffle or you can both shuffle. Some readers don’t like others to handle their cards, some think that it helps the reading if both put their energies into the cards. They can ask a question if they wish or have a reading for general guidance in their life or suggest an area of their life they want advice about.
Decide on a particular spread to use and how many cards to use – depends on time available and (if they are paying) how much they are paying.
Some readers just lay out cards and read them as they come with no particular spread positions.
Keep the question or subject matter in your mind as you are laying out the cards and relate the question to each card in your head. When you have laid them all out, start to go through the interpretation with the person having the reading.
Make them wash their hands before touching your cards.
Have them hold the cards while they tell you about the situation in detail ~ only the situation they want read and all aspects of it.
When they are done speaking and both of you have decided on the right question, take your cards back.
Shuffle focusing on the question ~ both of you.
Have them tell you when to stop.
Have them cut the deck and hand it back to you.
Spread the cards.
When reading Tarot for another, read the cards the same way you would when reading for yourself. Upright and reversals will be the same.

If your reading for people who are not there – do you have their permission?
To read for others, you or they can shuffle, make sure their questions are clear, that you know what layout to use before you even start. You lay the spread. Both you & then focus on the question.

I myself incline to do it the same as when reading long-distance — to just choose the cards myself, since it eliminates any possibilities of the card being presented upside-down or cut or shuffled inappropriately. However, this seems to leave the clients confused or dissatisfied; they *like* shuffling, cutting and choosing their own cards.
If I were to do in-person readings again, I might try to do a hybrid system of some type, having the client maybe choose one card, and then proceeding to choose a layout and cards for them and just trying to keep in mind the card they chose for themselves while doing most of the reading from my own card-laying, which I know to be more accurate.
