@fyasko46 Looking at it with more depth, I understand what you’re saying. Many women, as well as men, are in this sort of a relationship and somehow prefer this way of life. But your observation is most interesting indeed. I’m seeing it strictly from my cultural background where I grew up. Yet, I’m sure that there are people of my generation that live this life. Needless to say, this has been happening thoughout history. But I really like your in-depth and thoughtful observation. Thank you.
@singinjohnny I see what you’re saying, but what makes this song so beautiful to me is the clear confusion she’s having about the issue. She was untrue, probably only to test herself, if not to test her lover, which is an already evident conflict of emotions. Then for him to even react was a relief to her. I’m not by ANY MEANS saying that abuse is ok. at all. ever. But there is something beautiful in the emotional exploration. an interesting twist is Grizzly Bear’s version; Ed Drost is gay.
So sad that this happens to this day. So many people feel that violence toward themselves is love in disguise. I can’t relate violence and love together in the same sentiment. I just don’t have the ability. But plenty of people do. The result is the world that we see. The only reason that I could ever resort to violence would be for self-defense and it would have to be in an extreme case. But I can’t imagine ever wanting to deliberately and methodically inflict pain on anyone.
Quite eerie… but beautiful.
Most misinterpreted song ever written
@crackersjenkins looks like it
is this song for real?
Oops. Not written by Spector. Produced by him. My bad. Still creepy.
Does anyone think it’s creepy that Phil Spector – who was convicted of murdering a woman – wrote this song?
wow interesting lyrics
@fyasko46 I just watched the Grizzly Bear version – you’re right, it’s such an interesting version! Thanks for the heads up!

Only devotion on your part
@Ieatbabyseals
yes once he hits you it’s no longer love, it’s a restraining order, and once you break through that, then it’s devotion.
@jtstrang
You sound like you’re pretty twisted
He doesn’t love you if he’s hitting you
