The Tantra and Therapeutic Massage
Tantra comes from the Sanskrit root tan or ‘stretch’ and a Tantra massage may be looked at in two ways. A therapeutic massage is more a clinical massage concentrating on wellness. So there is a difference between a Tantra and therapeutic massage.
The Tantra can be two different types of massage. One form of the Tantra massage is to encourage the energy flow and stimulate the whole body. The person getting the massage should slowly go into a deep level of relaxation and come away with a sense of well being. It is an accumulation of ideas and practices by ritual in a search for perfection and what is called magical power. This would be a massage that is very similar to a regular massage with the result also one of total relaxation. However a normal massage probably isn’t billed as achieving magical power. It would be performed in a spa or massage parlor.
That is one form of a Tantra, and therapeutic massage is defined as massage that is performed in a clinic type of setting. This may be a doctor’s office or even a hospital or nursing home. The other form of Tantra not therapeutic massage in terms of a clinic type setting is also called a Tantra massage.
The type of setting for this type of Tantra massage is also derived from the Sanskrit but the terms that are used in this massage are also of Sanskrit meaning. This massage uses Yoni for vagina and Lingam for the penis but is translated to somewhat mean wand of light. This type of massage is not necessarily a prelude to sex but as way to achieve that deep level of relaxation.
