Another fantastic tarot show by the proffessional tarot reader Nick Dutch
Video Rating: 5 / 5
A self-published study of religion in video format. Shows how “The Matrix” is scripted to resemble the structure of “The Fool’s Journey”, an esoteric concept seen as part of the Tarot divination system by some believers in Western Esotericism. Makes fair use of copyrighted and GPL licensed works. Author’s web site: daniel.boettger.googlepages.com
the end result sounds good to me. Good reading =)
this was one of the best youtube videos ive ever seen
the moon is not all bad lol
moon hides mystery, once reveals the truth can be either good or bad.
Very good, it fits. See my blog on the parallels of tarot and The Prisoner; just google tarot prisoner. Also see my video connecting the tarot journey to Bach’s Toccata in F google Bach tarot toccata; also a video response to gswarner’s Tarot Archetypes The Fool’s Journey (good video too!). I think also The Ultimate Gift shows these parallels.
Nice, but where is the Minor Arcana? ;/
Thanks for this video, and thank you billjv for the info on Baum’s Oz. When I last saw it, I was convinced the whoever wrote it must have been an initiate of the tradition, but I never came around to looking it up. Theosophical society makes a lot of sense.
agree. nice comment.
tarot is a guide through the spirit
Very Good one! Congrats & V Tks 🙂

Congratulations, very interesting video!
I would have to agree with you given the Martial energies associated with Aries and the Emperor card. However the Hierophant card’s negative qualities( or when reversed) can indicate Saturnian limitation; materialism and misogyny. In the last film it is said that Smith is Neo’s opposite. So in Platonic terms, Neo would be the Unlimited and Smith the Limited and thus cancel on another out. However you are right it is a better fit given its Martial characteristics.
Folks, anyone purporting to truly know tarot should know that almost all movies have tarot correspondences — the tarot is special because it represents fundamental human archetypes! And archetypes by definition don’t have one representation, be it magician (doctor), empress (wife), or hierophant (teacher). But of course it is exciting to notice similarities, but no larger transcendent revelation is announced.
i disagree on the associations. To just refer to the beginning. The magician is the one who prepares the world for the arival of the fool which is the avatar. The magician is the pontifex, the bridge builder who has the task to connect the above with the below. The fool is the son of god manifesting as the fool. The fool follows the smell of the rose, looking backwards, walking forwards towards the abbys. New Aeon = foolsworld. He represents the 0. not an “either=or” but rather an “as well as”.
listen to your spirit, not tarot cards.
Very fascinating correspondences found here! I noticed The Oracle was holding a cigarette — a la Justice’s sword. And was holding a glass, perhaps reflecting Justice’s scales?
This is a great analysis. The Major Arcana of the Tarot has a pattern for the hero’s Journey that has been used countless times in movies- the most well known being Star Wars, both the individual films and the entire series as a whole.
The masterpiece in this realm has to be The Wizard of Oz, a prototypical hero’s journey written by L. Frank Baum, who was a member of the Theosophical Society – it’s no accident the Hero’s Journey is incorporated into it.
Really interesting. The only suggestions I would make would be to make Morpheous the Hierophant (think about his role connected to religion) and Smith the Emperor (bringing in the negative aspects of that card).
Genius, this might even synch to some movie too
wow, this is awesome, i never really paid attention to all these connections to the movie and i’ve seen it like 4 times.
what am i looking for?
What is bad are the people who take it TOO seriously. I read tarots myself, but I am still the controller of my OWN destiny. The Tarot are just a guide. These are the people who like worship as a god or something.
Intersting, nonetheless analogy can be found between everything. For example card death doesn’t need to mean deth itself (as most people got used to understand this word). Meaning of this card is rather change/transformation. Death can fit also to the scene, where neo takes the red pill and awakes from the “unreal” matrix… But what I wanted to say is, that it would be short-sighted to strongy associate each card with one part of the movie.
Its not really bad if people read tarot cards. What’s really wrong is the media corporations which are spreading lies about it and not telling people the whole truth about the cards. The cards were originally intended for a card game which is still played in some countries and the MSM should report the truth about this!
Whats funny is that the “W” Bros. didn’t really write the matrix. Google “Cats Eye”
acually every movie has that a good guy a girl he loves a helper to the hero a bad guy the downfall annd uprise of that hero and the end they live happily ever after
