The Catholic theologian Karl Rahner famously said “the Christian of tomorrow will be a mystic, or not a Christian at all.” Few people have impacted Christianity in this regard as has Fr. Thomas Keating. A Cistercian monk from St. Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado, Fr. Thomas has spent a lifetime in deep Christian practice, and in sharing the fruits of this contemplation with countless others. We were enormously blessed to host a dialogue with Fr. Thomas and Ken Wilber in April of 2006. In today’s featured video, Ken presents some of the foundational concepts of Integral spirituality. Video Rating: 4 / 5
“Atheism in the name of God is an abandonment of all religious beliefs . . . giving up the attempt to make sense of the world in terms of any fixed idea or intellectual system. It is becoming again as a child and laying oneself open to reality as it is actually and directly felt, experiencing it without trying to categorize, identify or name it.” -Alan Watts Video Rating: 4 / 5
That is why the concept of Karma & Rebirth is the logical & right choice. Your child misbehaves – do you 1) Simply forgive him or 2) Give him a Beating? How about option 3) TEACH him Right from Wrong! That’s Karma & Rebirth – God’s Non-Violent way of steering us onto the right path. You can’t simply beg & grovel & get away with it, nor are u physically violated & abused. The Goal of a Hindu is not a seedy flesh-pot heaven but Moksha – Knowledge, with God as our Guru.
yeahh the “live your life as it would be a composition” thing is so godd..it remind me to the FLOW concept..like if you are complitly into somthing and everything else is faded away you go into a flow of exercise , focusing only on that certain thing.
@jonnythunders78 I agree Alan Watts was brilliant. Gopi Krishna did take evolutionary thought a step further however, including powerful implications regarding the devastating damage the modern intellectual perspective has led to from a global socio-political and ecological perspective. By the way, I’m a total Johnny Thunders fan.
@DrMickaelleDougherty I have absolute respect for Gopi Krishna, but Alan Watts was a Genius and a Human Being with weaknesses. He was a Drunken Master and a unifying spiritual voice. All the criticism he received always came from dogmatic voices who’s numbers were being threatened by Alan’s singular spirit philosophy.

There are three models of Government competing for world domination:
(1) Communist / atheist: where government officials decide and dole out your temporal rights if any
(2) Sharia Law: where the Qu’ron governs
(3) Judeo-Christian model, where God grants our rights & liberties and THEREFORE they are unalienable, power resides in we the people, we are sovereign and the government is our servant.
Gopi Krishna wrote a great chapter on Alan Watts or the Dangers of Partial Awareness. It’s in his book, The Awakening of Kundalini. Didn’t Alan Watts die an alcoholic? Check out my link for a prophecy by Gopi Krishna and handbook for accelerating brain evolution.
i jus wanna know who wrote the bible then? did one man write the bible?? did a group of dudes come together and say to themselves…lets write a fucking epic, right now! i wanna know…
@liverbitz91 @liverbitz91 I know exactly what you mean. It’s a reactionary word meaning a LACK of something. It’s not pro anything. Funny enough famous ‘atheist’ Sam Harris said pretty much the same thing.
I have never particularly liked atheism… it seems that without theism, there would not be atheism. So, a person’s beliefs are founded on trying to disprove something. I don’t understand why anyone would want to have the standpoint of negativity. Not that I agree with theism either. I just really am not a fan of atheism.
@jursle Maybe you don’t know what Empiricism is. It is the philosophy that all knowledge can only be obtained by sensual experience, and philosophers like Hume, Berkeley, and Locke go further to prove that our senses are unreliable and flawed. This means they do NOT search the physical world for truth, because the philosophy states that the truth is unobtainable. This is why he denied causality, because anything physical isn’t real. Nice attempt, though.
@vids721 I’m sorry, but denying the existence of physical, testable things makes you an Empiricist? It doesn’t, it makes you a Rationalist. An Empiricist will search the physical world if searching for the truth, denying all he cannot see or measure. David Hume even denied causality, the famous example of this are the poolballs. If you hit a poolball with the stick and it rolls into another poolball, which in turn rolls away, can you prove the 1rst caused the 2nd? You cannot, you simply assume i
@Don1Dadda That makes him an Empiricist, following the philosophies of David Hume. Bet you didn’t expect an answer to that haha
And the rest of your comment answers itself, I believe, cause if God is a physical thing, ANY physical thing, and AW denies physical things, where does he lie?
And I saw a comment of yours stating Atheism is a “cult” .. can you explain how astraying from religious activities and beliefs is a “cult” way of living?
ha! i was thinkin the whole time , hmmm seems very so park., and it was.

Take some shrooms, you’ll never be afraid of death again, you’ll be happy to be alive, and you will see the world anew, like a full grown child.
Alan Watts is not an atheist, you prickle.

Alan Watts is amazing in the first place and to see that Trey Parker and Matt Stone produced this makes it twice as spectacular.
