    Enya sings celtic pagan songs

The best of boring music that sounds the same no matter what song is playing.
    or
Favourite tunes that will drive you mental if you listen to them more than once.
    I hate them all.

EDIT – Actually the best pagan-esque music i’ve heard (by the way i think that whole pagan thing is silly, but that aside) is Joanna Newsom. I just remembered her while meditating this morning.
She’s actually a talented musician and an amazing lyricist. Maybe even approaching the levels of Bob Dylan in terms of lyrics. (everyone will kill me for saying that). And she can actually play well (harp-classically trained apparently), not just a studio gimp like enya.
Try it out. Might take a couple of listens. I would classify her as the weird love child of Bjork and Bob Dylan.

I’m not sure about Enya but….

Okay I can’t resist telling a story. A few years back, I was walking on the railroad tracks and found this random box of trash, there were two CDs laying on top, dirty and scratched. Me, being the music freak, picked them up. They were Loreena McKennit. I hadn’t heard her before. So I took them home and repaired them at a local music shop and I LOVED it.
The CDs were “The Book Of Secrets” and “A Winter Garden”.
I think those are the best that I have heard so far, but I don’t claim to know best….

If you want Celtic pagan music I much prefer The Waterboys.

Enya and Loreena are too sleepy for me.

For Enya, Adeimus is an excellent album as is Deep forest. For Loreene McKennitt, I love Book of Secrets, The Mask and Mirror, The Visit, Parallel Dreams and A Winter Garden.

Now if it’s TRUE Pagan music, expecially Wiccan Music then I’d recommend Wendy Rule, Lisa Thiel, Elaine Silver, LIbana and the Wryd Sisters. These are toned down and easy listening tunes. There are also Metal artists such as, Tia Knight, Soil, Slipknot, Inkubus Sukkubus.

For Celtic type instrumental you havce a hard time beating Riverdance, Runrig, Dagda, The Coors and Clannad.

These are just a tiny sampling of the musical artists out there who do pagan related songs however my most favored of al is a little know group with and BIG name lead guitarist known as Blackmore’s Night that features Ritchie Blackmorre (Formerly of Deep Purple) and Candace Night (who has a truly lovely voice). The music is more along the lines of a soft rock combined with songs of a ballad nature to a rock beat. YOu MAY find them to be just the thing to listen to.

    Brightest Blessings,

I love Enya’s Amarantine CD – her newest one. It is very nice and I love listening to it – it helps calm me down. It is also good for yoga – except know I have the lyrics memorized and I start singing along…

Here is a link to it on Amazon:

I don’t know much else by Enya, but I love her voice – her “May It Be” on the soundtrack for The Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring was simply gorgeous – that is how I got interested in her.

    Peace!

First of all, NONE of these artists mentioned (except the true pagan artists) here make TRUE Pagan music (NOR so-called “new age” music!!), it is just a very bad mislabelling! For example, Loreena has made a full CD of Christmas songs (most of them Christian!) and Enya, as she was raised as Irish Catholic, has a song named “Athair Ar Neamh”, meaning “Father In Heaven”!! The more apt word to describe the music is “cross-over”, as it combines together several music styles. Anyway, my CD choices of Enya & Loreena would be as follows:
Book Of Secrets & The Visit from Loreena
Amarantine & The Memory Of Trees from Enya

Edit: The person who thinks Adiemus is by Enya -it is NOT!! It’s composed by a totally different composer and has NOTHING to do with Enya!!

  • Priestess Jean says:

Loreena’s best disk is “the Visit”, with
“Ancient Muse” a close second. Not
sure about Enya, I don’t have any Enya.

There are other good artists if you like
ethereal new age Pagan female vocalists..
such as Kate Price, Ani Williams and
    Stellmara.

Go to CD Baby, you can hear samples
    before you buy.
