What the hell are metaphysical powers?
If you mean that people would no longer have identity crisis because they’d already know their ace profession, then people would be marvelously effective at everything they do, probably happier in general, and our technology would progress at a rapid rate.
If we merely transcended ourselves and were assimilated into some sort of spiritual oneness with the universe and yet maintained our individuality, I think humankind would be just as bloodthirsty as it is today, Only the rules would be different.
You mean like became more intuitive, utilized ESP? Better, I think. We’d be able to empathize with one another more easily, a lot of future problems would be avoided, etc.
The other people would force the system to kill them off.
