Question by The Rev. Barnum Fife: Have any of you, whether religious or not, ever sought “god” in a wilderness sorta way?
Like Jesus and Siddharta supposedly did, with the caloric restriction and all? Like Native Americans did (and sometimes still do) on their vision quests?
If so, what was the result?

But the “fasting” was a side effect of the acid, and the “wilderness” was a Grateful Dead Concert…

I got to see a lot of atheists evolve to death. Seems they don’t think ahead when heading into a desert either.
Yes I have gone native quite a few times.
Nothing to do with god though, I just don’t mix well with others. All I came home with was a good tan, and toe nails that needed painting.

I enjoy praying and the silence of the wilderness to fellowship with G-d. seek him and hear him in a quieter setting.
Our biblical G-d removes us from the wildrerness of seeking him in truth. love and sincereity.
The enmy may wish to keep us in the wilderness of lif but doubt, pride, stubboirness and our ways of the flesh.
Yet as we obey the Lord he teaches us his ways over our ways .
God is everywhere. He created everything on this earth for us. Through creation we get to know him.

always came home cranky, skinny and thirsty….srsly though, natives have someone watch over the person doing a vision quest.
I did ask him the first time he did it, but I forget what he said….I’ll go ask him again.
He said there was no vision, although the last two fasts were not for a vision, but for cleansing.
