Tarot of the Witches Deck/Tarot Cards
The Tarot of the Witches is based on a series of oil paintings by the Scottish artist Fergus Hall. The images are dreamlike with a surreal quality. The human figures often have large arms and shoulders, but undersized legs. Both sexes have long, black stranded hair. Animal "familiars" can be seen repeatedly, including a striped cat and black bird. The colors are bold and vivid with swords = red, cups = blue, coins = green and batons = brown. The Tarot of the Witches is the tarot deck used by Solitaire in the James Bond movie Live and Let Die. The complete Tarot deck consist of 78 cards that are divided into two sections: 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana. The Major Arcana represents the cycle of physical and spiritual forces that we encounter on our journeys through life, birth, strength, love, relegion, death and re-birth. The minor arcana are believed to be de the forerunner to the contemporary deck of playing cards, consisting in four suits, Each of the four suits contains four court cards and ten pip cards numbered one (Ace) through ten. The four court cards in each suit are named King, Queen, Knight and Page. The minor arcana generally represent occupations, social positions, and status.
