Question by Panda girl: Tarot – what rules do you follow & how do you read them?
I mean things like “you are not to read the cards for yourself”, “don’t let other people touch them”, “put them in a special bag/box” and which way to turn them and how to shuffle them and how to protect yourself and all that jazz… I’m just interested in how others work with their cards.
I don’t mind people having an opinion on tarot cards just please, if you want to say something like “Tarot is the devil!” or similar, please refrain. I believe you shouldn’t force your religion on others. They just may not be ready yet.

I used to have a deck, the main rule I would set for yourself, is don’t read anybody more than once–some keep hounding you forever, and that’s why I got rid of mine

whatever superstitions people have about the tarot superstition, do you think it really matters? Do you think that inanimate objects like cards ‘know’ how they are being handled?
Consciously or subconsciously, it’s all about the cold reading anyway: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_reading
I read for myself all the time. I do keep my cards in a special bag and box, but mostly so someone will not be encouraged to steal them (the box is a bit of a subterfuge, it’s a box for a bible). I don’t follow any hard and fast rule for shuffling/turning etc., the only hard and fast rules I follow are on interpretation, as I’ve had a lot of success with the interpretations I use now.
No one is here to force religion on you. Although you may not be ready in the flesh, God decides when you will die. If you are playing with witchcraft, you will have to deal with the consequences that you must already know. I am a former tarot reader. Once you open the door to satan you won’t need a book of instructions to read cards, also there is no protection at all when doing this. No spell, or rock or charm or any other gadget will protect you, because satan is a liar! You are playing a dangerous game. It is my duty as a born again Christian to warn you of these things. If you choose to ignore me, then it is all your doing. Be careful. I burned all my cards and books. I won’t say anymore.
Hi I know what you are going though I and am intermediate tarot
reader and have been doing it now for a numbers of tears but just did not keep up with it by now i know all the meaning with out looking and of the meaning but I would have the say that you should go back to the BASIC the one who really started all the books Eden Gray to the tarot and fallowed her example read the BASIC books on tarot just because they know how it started there are many books out their however the people that wrote the books after her put in their own way and different ways of doing the tarot but that’s OK it works for them but I my self is one to go to the roots and Eden Gray was just one of first of her kind and made history for others students writers of the tarot to wright books.
The answers to you questions would be in those books I my self have been told some of the same stuff you have but you know God is always with you and I let my seeker handle the cards because that what readers of the old say to do so its up to sweetie. and another book and another is the book of the tarot Fred Gettings which Might be out of print and watch out for people who know nothing about the tarot and just out to make money the tarot is a god giving gift.
To mislead people, the demons use spiritism. The practice of spiritism is involvement with the demons, both in a direct way and through a human medium. The Bible condemns spiritism and warns us to keep free from everything connected with it. (Galatians 5:19-21) Spiritism does for the demons what bait does for fishermen. A fisherman uses a variety of baits to catch various kinds of fish. Similarly, wicked spirits use different forms of spiritism to bring all sorts of people under their influence.
One type of bait used by the demons is divination. What is divination? It is an attempt to find out about the future or about something unknown. Some forms of divination are astrology, the use of tarot cards, crystal gazing, palmistry, and the search for mysterious omens, or signs, in dreams. Although many people think that practicing divination is harmless, the Bible shows that fortune-tellers and wicked spirits work together. For instance, Acts 16:16-18 mentions “a demon of divination” that enabled a girl to practice “the art of prediction.” But she lost this ability when the demon was cast out of her.
“There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead.” – Deuteronomy 18:10, 11.
If you call yourself a Christian than you should stop playing with those tarot cards.
