Question by Yank: Are they Christian, maybe Fundies, the folks here who are drawn to Tarot cards, psychics, astrology, etc.?
Belief in ancient myths, such as the god of a Bronze Age tribe of murdering desert nomads, can, I have read, lead to belief to all sorts of other spooky ‘myths’. One can’t help but notice that there are loads of folk hereabouts who seem fascinated by Tarot cards, etc., which, for one, also goes a pretty doggoned way back in human history. What’s going on?

Best answer:

Answer by ? Pangel~Spreading the love ?
Tarot dont go so far back
although psychics and astrologers do
but yes people are being drawn more to the older religions now
getting back to basics
back to nature based religions
I believe we will see more and more of this

although I dont get the connection with people who use things like that and Bronze age murdering nomads

What do you think? Answer below!

Tarot cards only go back to the 11th century.. that’s relatively new.
Psychics and astrology may go back further, but there aren’t many christians who are interested in that sort of thing.

I don’t see how their belief in the god of the bronze age tribal society of the hebrews has a connection to divination and astrology though.

Christians are forbidden (Deuteronomy) to seek any other assistance but seeking God for the future. Our faith and trust are in Him. He will tell us what we need to know. It is not faith to seek out the future in a psychic.

No Christian, who is praying and following God, should be consulting astrology, tarot cards, etc.

God forbids any kind of dealings with witchcraft or the occult. If you play with fire you are going to get burned. All those things are not from the “right” spirit.

Deuteronomy 18:10-11 (NIV) Let no one be found among you… who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or cast spells, or who is a medium or spiritist.

Negative ghost rider. And scientists “theorize”. Evolution is a myth. The bible takes place in more than just the bronze age within multitudes of people across multiple continents. Tarot cards demonology, the occult, new age, chakras, chi, and “theory” have nothing to do with it. Quite the contrary. But maybe you still believe you’ll fall off the “edge” of the earth, too, yank?

    God bless

Generally, the fundamentalists are convinced that things like tarot cards and astrology are evil. So, while they may be drawn to some strange beliefs, they don’t tend to be drawn to those particular beliefs. Usually, the really kooky things they get into are end-of-the-world stuff and demon possession.

I think it is interesting that modern Christians claim that astrology is wrong. Its pretty obvious to anyone that knows anything about the history of that time that the Three Magi that came to see Jesus were astrologers. Magi were Persian priests that practiced astrology. Besides, who but an astrologer would set off on a long journey simply because of a star?

    In a word: idiocy.

It is not majorly Christians, but there are those Christians who foolishly dabble in occult, most of which are grifters: tarot cards, ouija, palmist, seances, mediums, horoscopes…etc. But all are and can be channels to the occult/satan.

God Almighty says, “Flee & resist all temptations from sorcerors, idolators, and ALL presense of evil & the devil.”

I have no desire to contact Satan or expose myself to him or his demons or the people who seek occult/Satantic vice or rituals out of naive curiosity, for entertainment, or as a craft.

People who are interested in some religion are often interested in others as well. Some of the older traditions are attractive to modern women — I’m not speaking for men at the moment — because mainstream religion as practiced today does little for them. The first love known to any person is the love of a mother, and people naturally turned to a mother of a higher sort when their own mother disappointed them in some way, such as in turning out to be a human being. When people learned that men were also a part of giving life, the men took over religion, and it’s been downhill ever since. I, personally, would like to see adults give up on religion — it’s all a bunch of poppycock. But tarot cards and the rest are interesting and fun. Why not enjoy whatever life has to offer, as long as it’s not hurting anyone else?
