or Nothing’s Shocking (Jane’s Addiction) This a tough question, Im thinking Nothing Shocking, It’s one of my fav’s ! they dont make music like that anymore and it’s a very sad thing. = (

I’d take Blood Sugar Sex Magic, but they are both very good records. I think the RHCP one just has more nostalgic appeal.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik hands down!!! RHCP has continually produced amazing albums, including that one.
Nothing’s Shocking – This was one great album. Mountain Song remains one of my all-time favorite tunes. This came out in ’88 during the whole hair-metal/glam phase.
It sounded so fresh and new, of course I had never heard their first album at the time, and thought these guys were new on the scene.
I think this album may have sewn the first seeds for the alternative music revolution that followed about 4 years later.
BSSM. That album is so bad ass. It’s my favorite album of all time.

This is one tough battle of LA based groups. BSSM was way more popular and can hold up well against just about everything……except Nothing’s Shocking. This album was so complex yet it rocked hard the whole way through. NS was completely lean, no empty filler tracks that you would want to skip over. Jane’s Addiction peaked with an all time great effort, which they never were able to duplicate.
