On the 2nd July 2007, an ITV team for the ‘Trinny and Suzanna Undress’ show descended upon the Sussex hill figure the Long Man of Wilmington. Their plan was to empower 100 women by dressing them up in plastic white protective clothing, and then transforming the ancient Pagan site into a woman. They were met by 22 Pagan protesters and this film is the result. You can clearly hear one of the women say to two women protesters that they “weren’t allowed” to take their leaflet that explained the protesters’ issues. This is what they didn’t show in the program. The custodians of the site have now made an official apology, so the protest has been successful in making sure that this kind of thing will never be allowed to happen again.
