Question by checked.cherry: What are some good examples of Metaphysical and Romantic poems?
My essay question is…
“With reference to 3 metaphysical and/or romantic poems define the ‘persona’ of the poem. How is the persona used to reveal a particular view of the world?
I kind of know what I want to say in the essay but I am having trouble finding poems that have a strong and evident persona.
All help is appreciated!
thank you.

John Donne is your man. I think he was the sort of the father of metaphysical poetry. “The Flea” is a famous poem where a flea “that bites both the speaker and his lover becomes a conceit arguing that his lover has no reason to deny him sexually, although they are not married:
Oh stay! three lives in one flea spare
Where we almost, yea more than married are.
This flea is you and I, and this
Our marriage-bed and marriage-temple is. ” Wiki hotness
