The charm bracelet itself was originally brought to popularity in Europe by her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth, and gained fascination in the U.S. when World War II soldiers returned with trinkets for loved ones. Reminiscent of that same nostalgia, teenagers began collecting charms to celebrate special events and interests in their life. Charm bracelets continue to be a popular fashion trend with both adults and children alike.
One of the purposes behind the charm bracelet is to show others your favorite pastime or hobby. For example, a ballerina might have a pair of ballet slippers, a music note and a tutu on her charm bracelet. A dog lover might have a locket with their pet’s photo, a dog bone and their pet’s initial. A charm bracelet is a great way to play into someone’s niche interest and provide them with a trinket to add to their collection.
Charm bracelets can also commemorate certain life events that are of utmost importance. A bracelet might include a trophy, a car and a diploma to symbolize the progress a teenager has made in school. Charms may be worn on the bracelet or collected and displayed as part of the memories they represent.
