www.therenegadehealthshow.com – It’s not often you get to spend time in a Peruvian market with a Q’ero shaman and a doctor (Dr. JE Williams) who’s spent 40 years studying native cultures and has worked under Bernard Jensen… In this video, we give you a taste of the San Pedro Market in Cusco, Peru. In the second half it gets really crazy, and in fact, if you’re sensitive to seeing dead animals, please only watch the first part. Shamanism sometimes isn’t pretty. Take a look…

@Ronnock not really sure, google didn’t turn anything up. I personally look like a type white female american, I’m not darker colored or have any unique looking facial features, so I just assume its people being rude I dunno.
@faylinameir Oh! XD too bad… as am not from north America (just been there a few times) I thought that was just in latin/central America
I just finished 2 books, Rainforest Remedies and Tales of a Shaman’s Apprentice. Both of which I am buying for personal reference material. Tales of a Shaman’s Apprentice is from the Amazon Indians and this video clip reminded me of the book! This is so awesome. Your work is so important and I hope you are able to go back years later and still be able to find Shamans and people with this knowledge. Dr. Plotkin’s efforts to unite the Shaman’s of South America is saving the world.
My own herbal cupboard XD My collection of incense oils and herbs is starting to grow quite large. Most of it I pick myself. Last time I bought something that was a blend of incense with white sage and all kinds of things, meant to be offered for the forest spirits. I also have a paw of a rabbit that I found once.
@faylinameir I really wonder how often that happens to foreigners. Does anyone have a statistic or anything like a testimonial about this? I am curious as well.
looks a little like the hoodoo shops i’ve seen in my area or in New Orleans though i’ve never seen fetuses there, i just mean by the herbs and other things that can be found at botanicas
this is the same mentality that has contributed to the near extinction of tigers and gorillas. Old uneducated superstition. Sad to see it being appreciated on such a positive show. Did enjoy seeing the merits of the vegetation however.
I live in Sth. Texas where we have herbal shops that come from the curanderismo tradition. The shops I have been to are heavily blended with symbolism from Catholicism. There are nature things like herbs, oils and incense next to Santos and milagro charms. I have also had the opportunity to participate in a series of Pachakuti Mesa ceremonies which are Peruvian in origin. It was exciting to hear the shaman talk about the materials. I heard some of the words we sang in the ceremony. Thanks!
johnny 5!
I’ve never been anywhere but the midwest of the USA. But Ive always wanted to go to south america and visit the markets n stuff, I would be scared id get sick on the food or something though
@gupi1234 ive been to markets here in the states that do that =
mexicans do that stuff all the time nothing new here
I loved my visit to Peru. If you’re in Mira Flores there is a little surf shop where the guy takes you to the beach, gives you a surf board and surfs with you (teaches you) and brings you back all for like $25 (prices may have changed since I was there).
The food is excellent, but I did get very sick while I was there so be careful what you eat and drink.
I went there last year, Peruvian markets are sooo cool.
The bad part is that they mostly charge you based on your face :/
