Question by jmkcoolgirl_93: Are there any Mangas that aren’t sexual, gorey, negative, about magic, too violent, or anything like that.
I have heard of these two: Undertown and Strawberry Marshmallow. What do you think?
My mom has looked at them and hasn’t found any one without these things, yet. Can you please give me some suggestions.
One of the ones that I tried to read and she looked at was tokyo mew mew she said it was pretty negative. The other one I don’t quite remember.
What I meant by negative is calling each other stupid and things like that also some have swear words in them.
Where they are crying all the time and not knowing who they are.
By magic I mean sorcery and whichcraft ect.
Nothing with people sleeping together or anything like that. That’s what I mean by sextual.
It’s ok if it’s sad that’s not negative.
Normal life problems are ok. That’s not negative.
Things that happen in real life are normal.
I think ones about sports are my best bet. Do you have any suggestions.

Surprisingly enough, that’s actually a hard question to answer. Manga and Anime are notorious for creating stories and situations that suspend disbelief (one) or else (two) show the development of a main character who conquers personal problems and other situations around them, say bullying, discrimination, being different, being young/old, family issues, etc. Most of the time, you won’t find something between the two categories that won’t have at least one negative mark in it because the authors like to create (mostly) real situations for the characters, which involves some backhanded comments and the like. The real world, after all, is not so pretty. Thus, to answer your question, there are probably very few mangas out there that don’t have sexual content, gore, magic, violence, or negative comments.
And I may be wrong for suggesting it, but perhaps this is an exception? –> [Kaichou wa Maid-sama]
Give your answer to this question below!
Here’s a couple you might consider.
Moe Kare.
A 15 year old girl dreams of romance with a ‘prince’ like she reads about in her romance mangas, but she is forcibly kissed by a handsome boy who doesn’t even bother to introduce himself. She is heartbroken and thinks of him as the ‘perverted prince’ .
Later, she meets his twin half-brother who is kind, polite and a gentleman. She falls for him and they begin dating, but his nasty half brother keeps trying to manipulate the girl and make it appear as though she is being unfaithful to his brother (with him!) but she doesn’t actually do any such thing.
There are times when she wants the good brother to make love to her, but she does seem to realize what a temptation this is to him. All they do (up to episode 16 that I have read) is hold hands and kiss a little.
They are also in a school karate club together, so there are fight scenes, but not bloody violence.
Another one, Nodame Cantabile.
Shinichi Chiaki is a brilliant pianist and violinist at a prestigious music academy. He dreams of becoming a conductor, but due to a childhood accident he is afraid of planes and boats and he thinks he can never realize his dream as long as he can’t leave Japan to travel to Europe.
He can’t stand his instructor, who is very mean, and he is so discouraged he is considering giving up music. But then he hears someone playing Beethoven’s Pathetique piano sonata in a beautiful ‘cappricioso cantabile’ style, and he realizes that here is someone who is as good as he is on the piano. He wants to meet the pianist but is interrupted by his girlfriend, who pressures him to apologize to his teacher.
When he refuses, she dumps him. He gets drunk and passes out in front of his own apartment, because he can’t open the door. He is discovered by the girl next door (Nodame), who falls for him instantly, and drags him into her apartment while he is still asleep.
He wakes, hearing the beautiful Pathetique sonata he heard earlier, and is excited to meet the pianist. But when he opens his eyes, he sees that her apartment is a pigsty– junk, dust, dirt, soiled clothes, fast food wrappers, empty cans and bottles all over the place, and it stinks and there are lots of flies. He is so grossed out he jumps up and flees, but when he realizes that she lives next door to him, he can’t go very far.
On top of that, he is assigned to a different piano teacher, who assigns the two of them to play a duet together! Nodame begins visiting Chiaki at dinnertime and they begin a very strange and funny relationship. It is a comical romance.
No sex is shown, though sometimes the students are shown drinking. A lot of things are played for laughs, such as an instructor at the school who sexually harasses the girls in his orchestra, but that is not intended to suggest that it is a right or good thing to do. Also there is a homosexual character that adores (stalks) Chiaki from a distance, but he is there just for comic relief.
There is no fighting. The teacher Chiaki couldn’t stand kept smacking him over the head with a folded-paper fan, which is a traditional symbol of the teaching profession in Japan. And there is slapstick (like the 3 stooges) where people get angry at one another and punch them out or hit them over the head with something, but there is no bloodshed and nobody gets hurt.
There’s no supernatural in either of these series. In the first one, the animosity between the two half brothers is just a basic part of the plot. In the second one, the most intrusive bad moral element is the way every musician in the school is egotistic, thinking that they are the best and everybody else stinks. But my friend (who actually graduated with a degree in music) tells me that is a pretty acurate representation of the way things are really like at some music schools.
You can check both mangas out for free at onemanga.com.
There are also anime and live action versions of Nodame Cantabile. I watched the whole series of Nodame with my mother, and she didn’t find anything objectionable about it. I hope you enjoy at least one of these. If you like classical music at all, you will love Nodame.

“cardcaptor sakura,” this manga is really good even though it’s aim for child in 2nd or 3rd grade
i used to watch it when i was 2nd grade, but i also re-watch it a few months ago
it is really good, and i don’t think it’s childish
it includes magic, but it’s not like evil witchcraft or something like that
it’s just like the magic in which u can fly in the sky, and have this special power that u can capture those cards that flied away
by the way, i don’t think there is any cursing words in there, it’s really cute and funny
