Compare Exodus 32:4-10. Notice that the Israelites adopted an Egyptian religious practice but gave it a new name, “a festival to Jehovah.” But Jehovah severely punished them for this. Today we see only 20th-century practices associated with holidays. Some may appear harmless. B

I’m not quite sure what you are trying to ask but Easter in this house focus’ on Jesus’ death. We don’t do egg or bunnies or whatever else is associated with it.
Very early in the life of the Church, disputes arose as to which date Pasch or Easter should be celebrated.
The first definite record of the celebration of Christian Easter is in connection with the visit of Polycarp (the bishop of Smyrna) to Anicetus (the bishop of Rome) in 154 or 155 AD in order to come to an agreement about the time of the observance of Easter.
Awesome! It’s wonderful to see a real brother is on here and not tape recorders. Sun worship has melted in the Christian service, but the church of Christ cannot be polluted. That’s why I formed my own church in my house with the Bible as the pastor.
We call it easter but it is more in line with the Jewish celebration of Passover. Instead we celebrate that Christ was the (passover) Lamb that was slain. It happens to fall around Eastertide because a lot of the jewish holidays wall on the equioxes and solstices. It seems the God that began the planets in motion is pleased that we mark different times throughout the year with different celebrations, and designed the tilt, of the earth and it’s orbit around the sun for just that purpose.
Easter is not associated with Bablyon the Great, adulteries, luxuries, plagues, and burning, as told by Revelations 18:1-10… (I did not read the entire chapter for this one question.)
Easter is NOT the subject of that verse, as it was not practiced yet, so John would not be preaching about it.
It is a stretch to link Babylon the Great with the Catholic church AND therefore, thru a larger stretch, link in Easter as well.
John is not talking about the Catholic church, nor Easter. You’ll need a bit more direct evidence to connect the two.
MOST scholars believe John is talking about Rome. Rome is a MUCH better fit then the Catholic church.
That hasn’t stopped anyone from inserting ANY group they don’t happen to like as “babylon the great” or “the whore of babylon” — Lutherans, Anglicans, JW, Mormons, Jews, etc. Every group under the son has been identified as being connected with the Babylon in Revelations.
However thru ALL of these various interpretations.. Rome has been a constant and the best fit for what John was talking about.
You do understand that Alexander Hislop was an anti-Catholic that wrote fictional and fanciful history about the Catholic Church.
There is a real question in your diatribe….. Why are you opposed to Christians remembering and celebrating the resurrection of our Lord? Try reading some real history instead of people like Alexander Hislop, Ralph Woodrow and Loraine Boettner. God bless!

I first come across the book “The Two Babylons” about twenty years ago, I was truly amazed that all the holidays & there origin were in this book documented by historical findings.
We as Jehovah’s Witnesses have been taught the truth because we have a clear understanding of what the Bible Teaches, we haven’t be fooled by the clergy & the philosophy’s of men. The reason why this book is called the “Two Babylons” is because the Bible depicts false religion as the second Babylon & at Rev 18:4 we are told to get out of her (this would mean get out of false religion). How does one get out of false religion. False religion would be a faith that would have the pagan Babylonian gods & goddesses like Easter-Queen of the Heavens, the goddess of fertility, Tammuz, sun god, symbol the cross, & Only One a triune god that was three different ones in one body. The Babylonians had a god for everything, they even had an alter for a unknown god, this is why the Bible depicts false religion as a Harlot Babylon the Great.
For all that wish to please God they must get out of false religion if they do not want to share in her destruction. http://www.watchtower.org has a publication called “What Does the Bible Really Teach”, you can use your Bible or any Bible you wish to use.
I believe you are being confused. The fact is that we Christians celebrate the purpose of our religion and it does not matter if pagans happen to celibrate to their sun god during the same time. We christian use that date to celibrate the life death and resurection of our Lord Jesus Christ: period. If you do not believe in the resurection, than your religion is in vain. There is no purpose of your religion if you do not believe. I invite you to come and celebrate the reserection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Easter. We await to see you at church. Come and celibrate because he has paid for our sins. . He is risen. May the Lord be with you.

I agree. Don’t they read and study the bible? They refuse to see the pagan rituals that they celebrate, the idols that are worshiped, the false teachings of a burning place of torment, purgatory. Bites Pope About me: [or what I see and believe and know is the truth in fact!] The Pope is giving the United Nations teeth to bite all religions that mix in government business and teach Pagan not Christian teachings. The bible admonishes lovers of God to get out of Babylon the Great the world empire of false religions…because her sins have massed straight up to the heavens.
Christendom’s (the dominant part of Babylon the Great) worship is contaminated by Babylonish doctrines and customs. Customs associated with Easter, such as the Hot Crossed buns of Good Friday, and the dyed eggs of Pasch or Easter Sunday go as far back as ancient Babylon where they were once a part of Chaldean [Babylonian] rites. The holiday itself is named after Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility and the sister of Baal. The Germanic people referred to her as Ostara; the Canaanites and Phoenicians called her Astarte [Ashtoreth].
Eastre’s festival symbolized rebirth/spring. Resurrection Sunday is yet another way Pago Christians continue their pagan way of worship. By combining Jesus resurrection which is considered a rebirth with Eastre’s festival and rename it Easter, they are able to continue their paganism.
Get out of Babylon the Great before it is too late! and quit touching the unclean things. Do not let God close the door of the spiritual ARK, the true Christian faith, with you on the outside.

Now the easter: BTW, easter is of British/europian origin and tradition. From where I came from, the Philippines with spanish catholicism, there is no spring [as you refer],no easter eggs, no easter bunny, neither easter parade. At about 6am, the catholics attends a biblical play of the angel announcing to Virgin Mary, that He resurrected. Then the church bells rings and people goes to hear mass. And we call that Resurrection Sunday, pasqua de domingo; the same in Spain. In Italy, it is called buono pasqua. There goes your easter attack and digesting the heresies of Hislop.
Edit: Pasqua means pasch, or Jesus the sacrificial lamb.

Regardless of your take on pagan names and celebrations and deities, the fact is, we celebrate Easter as the most holy of times because of the death and Resurrection of our Lord. This single event changed history, and proved the truth of His teachings. It happened in the spring, so it is celebrated in the spring. Those other pagan celebrations have nothing to do with the Christ rising again from the dead. Pax Christi
