Question by PraiseJahYouPeople: Christians: What is a Pago Christian/Pagan Christian. Most likely you are one…?
A Pago Christian or pagan Christian_ is one who professes to be Christian but whose worship is contaminated by pagan teachings, rites, and traditions/customs.

Pago Christians will disguise their paganism under Christian names.

1) For example they will continue to worship pagan deities but disguise it under the name of a “saint”. In Mexico for example there is a pagan earth goddess called Maria. Many will disguise the earth goddess whose name is Maria under Mary (the mother of Jesus). Some may be Voodo high priestess and also claim to be Christians..in which case all the pagan gods and goddess in Voodoo are hidden under the name of some “saint”.

2) In their holidays they disguise their paganism under the name of someone associated with Christianity. For example Lupercalis Festival is disguise under Saint Valentine and called Valentines Day. Saturnlia festival is disguise under Christ name and called Christ-mas.

3) Their teachings are a blend of pagan and Christian. For example the commemoration of Christ death is combined with Estre’s festival. The Father, Son, and holy spirit are combined to form a trinity …a popular concept of pagan deities.

If you have other examples of what makes a person a Pago Christian or pagan Christian please state it.
At first glance what Pago Christians do look Christian, but a closer look, or when the Christian is peeled away…the paganism can clearly be seen.
It is easy to see what some spaniards have so many idols of Mary in their homes..they are using her to worship their earth goddess Maria.
@Cosimo__I am sorry you feel that way. But it is the truth. Mother Angelica said she was once a pagan Christian. She still is as long as she remains Catholic. As for Spaniards using Mary to worship their goddess it is a fact they do. Spaniards are not the only ones. Some in Hati continue to worship their pagan gods and goddess through Catholic saints that closely matches their gods and goddess. That too is a fact. Calling someone a pago Christian is like calling a human being mixed. While it is okay for a human to be mixed it is not okay to be a pago-Christian. White is white, black is black but when you mix black and white you get a black-n-white mix. It is the same with pago-n-Christian.

All that you have mentioned could be true, but the only thing that is definitely not true is that the concept of the Trinity is pagan. It is most certainly Christian and has always been ever since Christianity started and is not at all a combination of Christian and pagan beliefs.

You are forgetting the part that culture plays in a society. People change their religious beliefs but don’t abandon their culture. I don’t have a problem with that. The culture of Mexico is beautiful and rich, it would be terrible if it was to go extinct. The same for any other culture that is preserved in the art, literature, decorations and calibrations of it’s people.

It is common knowledge that many of our Holy Days were purposefully scheduled to coincide with the Pagan days.

I think it’s possible the pagen took Christian beliefs and twisted them.
I think it’s possible that the early Christian church wanted to come up with ways to “compete” against the pagen ideas and therefore scheduled holy days with that in mind.

Ya know, I really don’t care about pagan ties. I’ve had personal experiences with God and those will trump everything else.

I believe in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Stupid is as Stupid does-Forest Gump, that’s what I think with most of these answers, they have no clue, 2 Tim 3:1-5 on Y!A.

The Two Babylons by Rev. Hislop shows that with historical findings the Trinity can be traced some 3000 years before Christ, the cross was the symbol of the sun god Tammux who was the child of the Babylonian mother/child goddess Madonna.

2 Tim 3:1-5 says having a form of godly devotion, but proving false to it’s power.

Revelation call false religion a Harlot, why/, because she has adulterated herself with pagan gods & goddesses. At Rev 18:4 all are told to GET OUT of her if you do not want to share with her, her destruction.

Anyone can research the history books to find out where these pagan beliefs started.

Most historians are Atheist or evolutionist because they know where these pagan gods come from, when religion passes of these pagan belirfs, they want nothing to do with it. They know that most pagan gods & goddesses required human sacrifices & to think that religion today who changes names but not dates think that they are fooling honest Bible students is stupidity on their part, anyone who does the research knows the truth.

http://www.watchtower.org has a publication called “What the Bible Really Teaches”, in it one can find out what Satan does not want you to know(2Co 4:4), YOU CAN FIND THE TRUTH!!!

  • Cosimo ? ???? says:

The label “Pagan Christian” or “Pago Christian” is misleading and potentially insulting, to Pagans and Christians alike. It is not possible to be both Pagan and Christian – that is an oxymoron. Pagans do not believe in sin, divine judgement or salvation. Christians believe in all three. So you can be either Pagan or Christian, but not both.

Maria can indeed be thought of as an aspect of the great Goddess. And Mari, to ancient pagans, was the Goddess of the moon and the sea. But that does not mean that Catholics who venerate Mary as mother of God think of Mary as an aspect of the mother Goddess. The motivation behind the historic origins of Marian doctrine in another question entirely – it has nothing to do with what Catholics today believe.
