The short answer is yes, they did. The longer answer is that all native peoples “practiced” shamanism. You need to understand that shamanism is a way of living and knowing, not some mystical ritual or magic religion of some sort. Shamanism is alive and well throughout the world today wherever people have remembered that Life is universal and the greatest gift in all the Cosmos. Briefly, to live life shamanically is to KNOW that everything we are capable of perceiving has a consciousness and that we are all connected by that same Universal thread of Life-Consciousness, whether here on two legs, four legs, wings or fins, or held in one spot by its roots in the very spot on this magnificent earth where it took root and proceeded to grow.
Everything on this, our Earth, has a universal consciousness, and deserves to be respected as such…That is Shamanism.
