indigenous north americans do not have shamans. books that claim we do are simply wrong. shamans are from siberia and surrounding areas and are from the indigenous people of siberia.
north american nations are varied and some have healers others have societies that serve this function. anything in more detail will not come from a native person who knows and lives the culture because we keep such things to ourselves. i’m afraid whatever info you will find on the internet will not be accurate and in some cases will be totally made up. sorry.
K is right.
our medicines/ healers/ ways are not open for discussion with outsiders. Sometimes not even within the tribe. Only the next one in line that is learning.
Any books you find will be made up. Sorry but that is the truth of it.
Kanien and Crows are right about this….We go over this time and time again here at Yahoo Answers!…anyone claiming such and talking about it(being a shaman or authors of such books) ..is not who they say they are we don’t have shaman!….NO REAL SKIN is going to print up books for people to oogle over!….and if they do than they have lost any respect from their own people or other nations….Our spirituality is not something to put a price on and I get so tired of all these fake wannabes claiming to be something and doing things that have nothing to do with us…. again….We don’t have SHAMAN!
Kanien, 2 Crows and TB got it. I know it’s not the answer you want but if enough of us tell you the truth maybe you will accept it.
