Question by Magic: Natural connection with the Art of Astrology?
I have recently become interested in Astrology. I was always interested in astrology and read books about sun signs etc but it wasn’t until I was given some software so that I could draw up charts on my own that I became hooked. The thing is is that when I look at a chart it is as though it sings to me. I see the chart as a living thing in my mind and I feel the power of one planet filter through the energy of another in an intuitive way I don’t quite understand. I just feel as though I know this language and I can’t explain it. In the past my main area of interest has always been the Tarot but I have never felt the deep fundamental connection with the cards that I have with Astrology. I know that I am at the beginning of a long journey here and still have so much to learn and I admit that a part of me remains skeptical but my “soul” seems to recognise astrology and I cannot argue with it!
Has anyone else felt this way and how did you work on developing this connection with astrology?

I like astrology a lot, since I came to this Y/A section I’ve learned a lot. I feel really confident with it except for part where my bf told me not to dwell into it too much but that’s ok
I wish you best of Luck!

This is very good Polly. One cannot be a good astrologer without such perceptively and conceptual connection with the indications in the chart. Nevertheless, I do caution you to please intellectually learn as much as possible about astrology. This will actually strengthen your intuitive skills as well.
I can and do argue it.
I’m still wondering what astrology does better than random chance. Or better than simpler and more likely reasons. In other words evidence that can pass testing. Can’t get an answer yet.
It is belief oriented like a religion unless proved otherwise. Can it do what people claim without the belief?
Edit: Viewing the other answers, once again you better have blind belief or you will be wasting time and money.
“It seems to me what is called for is an exquisite balance between two conflicting needs: the most skeptical scrutiny of all hypotheses that are served up to us and at the same time a great openness to new ideas … If you are only skeptical, then no new ideas make it through to you … On the other hand, if you are open to the point of gullibility and have not an ounce of skeptical sense in you, then you cannot distinguish the useful ideas from the worthless ones.”
Carl Sagan “The Burden of Skepticism”
I think that every astrologer feels this way when they first discover how much there is to astrology besides Sun sign interpretations and horoscopes. The way you develop it is learn as much as you can, read as much as you can, and try to network with any astrologers in your area. Go to conferences if you can. Soak up as much knowledge as possible, because it is a lifelong study, as soon as you think you have it figured out, or know it all, something new will pop up that you hadn’t seen before!
Yes Polly. I have felt the same way. I believe without a doubt that I’ve encountered all of this before during many past lives. Some things I just know beyond explaination. Weird but true.
As Vic mentioned, you need to develop your knowledge to go along with your intuition. I have read hundreds of astrology books over the past 12 yrs…anything I could get my hands on. I know the key words and beyond. But mostly when I look at a chart, my intuition is what kicks in. Without a broad base of knowledge, I would have difficultly explaining what I see to others. Knowledge and intuition balance and support each other. This can be seen in an astro chart through the Virgo-Pisces polarity. Both are necessary.
Being skeptical is good. It will help you decide what is true and what is not. There is alot of false information floating around. Use your intuition AND your intellect to determine what is useful to you.
Good luck!!
